I currently have three Seagate Barracudas 7200.11 1.5 TB drives in my system for media storage.

I just added a Hitachi Deskstar 2 TB drive.

Once I added the Deskstar one of my Seagate drives disappeared from Windows.

I have a WD 500 gig setup as my bootdrive
I have a Seagate 1.5 setup as my D: drive (this is the one that's showing failed in disk management)
I have the other two Seagates and the Hitachi drive setup as E: and as a spanned dynamic drive.

I have run SeaTools on the three Seagate drives and they all test as fine. They are all showing up in the BIOS too.

Any ideas?

Go to the following:

  • In the new window go halfway down and you will see Drives
  • Double click on drives and on the lower part of the screen you will see the drives listed (see attached image)

Did you check to make sure you didn't accidently loosen the connection when installing the last hard drive?

Yeah even tried different cables both SATA and power still no luck - I am wondering if it isn't just coincidence and I had some kind of drive error. I am currently running some recovery software to see if I can rebuild the index and recover the files.

Thanks for everyone's help.

just double checking a lot of times in the bios you can turn on or off each SATA port becuase it shows that drive as offline

I have a SATA to USB connector that I also tried and it didn't show. I also then tried it on another computer and still no luck.

That's why I'm running the recover software now.

Turned out the partition table had gotten erased. I used testdisk and it repaired it in about 30 seconds.
