Hey, I'm in need a more hard drive space on the computer, I want to invest in 2 new 500GB drives and maybe put them into RAID 0, my current hard drives are a 500GB Hitatchi and a 1TB Hitatchi.

So a couple of questions.

Is is ok to have separate hard drive makes in a computer? So having 2 Hitatchi drives and 2 Western Digital drives, sounds stupid I know :P

and

If I installed the new drives, and I wanted them in RAID 0, how would I move the hard drives around? If I moved the hard drive with the OS then would cause me issues? If it would then would the best cause of action to backup the OS drive and copy it to the new drive?

Sorry if I made no sense in the questions, I's rather be sure what I'm doing that screw up hard drives somehow :P

Thanks

I'll try to answer a couple of your questions. I have never done a RAID setup, so I'll save that for somebody that knows about it. First, I would check to see how many unused SATA ports are available on your MB. How many mounting bays are availble in your case? I have had up to 8 HD's in a computer, all of various mfgs and various sizes from 80gb to 2tb.
Best of luck in upgrading HD's, it is usually easy. :)

Different hard drive brands aren't an issue.

I know very little about RAID, but I have read recently that RAID 0 is pretty much pointless for the average user. I'd do a lot more investigation on it.
