hdtv as second display

guys thank you very much for your help, i appreciate.I figure out myself but i was also thinking about what you said about the NVIDIA control panel.I was wondering why i could not find it.OH my God listen to this:i have a sony vaio laptop wich came with windows vista.I bought the windows 7 (not upgrade but the full version)and install it.Ok everything was fine until i tried to connect to my hdtv. Now my laptop can not see my tv.Is not even show that is conected or anything. Before when i got the vista no problem. Now i don't have to much knowledge about this but i didn't know that if you install windows 7 you will lose the driver for the graphic card wich i dont find it helpfull at all.Ok now i know so what i did is go to nvidia website support and download the driver but i could not install. Why?Because you can only do this through sony website support. This is new for me so if you face the same problem try what i did.Now everything is fine and works fine.I was very close to go back to vista. Thanks for help.

Hello jojo6, welcome to Seven Forums!

R click an empty spot on the desktop and select screen resolution and post a snip of that here, like this.

That's why I was asking to see this, to know if 7 was 'seeing' the second display.

I have a similar problem. I have an old video card nVidia FX 5200. When I connect my HDTV to the PC through the DVI port it will not refresh the screen and it stays black. I have to have the VGA monitor connected and go through the whole procedure of setting up a new display every time.
On my XP through nVidia control panel I was able to set up the TV as an HDTV and it was no problem after that to start the PC and show it on my TV screen.
The problem is that with Win 7 I have no nVidia control panel. The system automatically downloaded the drivers after install and that's it. No control center. On the nVidia website there are no drivers for my FX 5200, since it's old.
Is there any way to download and install just the nVidia control panel, or a similar program?

As I said before i'm not the best at computers but if i was you i would go to nvidia.com then download drivers and then go to option 2 wich is ''Automatically find drivers for my NVIDIA products''.Try this and see what happens. If not maybe you can go to the support website of the manufacturer of your pc and try to download through their website. That's what i did because when i install windows 7 i had no more nvidia driver.Or another thing when i install my windows 7 all the files and drivers had been located in a folder called old windows. That's where i found the old driver wich i install it and it worked.
I hope you find this helpfull.

You can easily search for the 5200, but that card is obsolete.

Yeah, it is. I'm going back to XP for now. There're nettops coming out with the ION platform which is just fine for an HDPC. Plus it's smaller and more energy efficient. Win 7 is running nicely on my Vista laptop now :).
