Hi. I wonder if any body can help me.

My wife has an Acer Aspire Desktop. She is using MS Explorer 11.

She is constantly getting CPU load too high messages.

I have checked the CPU % and IE11 is at 47% and that is the main problem. She also had the same % using Firefox.

I checked my own PC running IE11 and Windows 10 and I get about 7%.

I suspect that there is a problem with her version of IE, but do not know how to sort it.

Can anybody help please.

Many thanks.

Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
Not sure what sites she's on but just 1 tab with youtube open will use close to 150.000kb easily in ie11 and that's without Adobe flash player installed

Browsers are getting more resource hungry not less
Also state the system spec's for each system so we might have a comparison of both machines.

Hi,
Well yea a meager system 1.70Ghz cpu

I see at least 3 problems or concerns
1 you have GWX.exe that is Get Windows 10 it doesn't seem to be using any resources though.
2 you also have Java installed
3 you have Mcafee installed you should switch to Free Panda.

Go to the services section and check the box on the bottom left to hide all M$ services.

Then on the screen shot you posted use the bottom left button to show processes for All users
Look for other GWX listings.

Use start and type in the search box
msconfig
Hit enter or click on the top suggestion
Post the Startup section and the complete list of items.

How did running with No add-ons work out ?

Hi Thrashzone.
Some interesting comments there.

Would a faster CPU make any difference in terms of CPU load?

GWX is an interesting one. My wife is a translator. She specialises in software localisation and translation of all IT related materials. Speed of processing has never seemed to bother her. She has to use special translation tools, so not sure if Java is needed.
Anyway, instead of getting on with her work, she saw a notification offering her free upgrade to Windows 10. She hit the yes button. Anyway about an hour later, she came and told me what she had done. In the end I told her to stop the upgrade to 10 as I felt she was better staying on 7 for the foreseeable future. That is probably where that GWX.exe came from. I will get rid of that.

I don't know why she has Mcafee on. I dislike that one intensely. I normally use SuperAntiSpyware free edition, which is what I would prefer to put on her machine. It does a great job for me. I also have Windows defender on as well. Those 2 seem to run well together. Never ever have any viruses.

I will do the last part of your advice, within the next 24 hours, as my wife is translating at the moment and she also has to update to the latest version of one of her translation tools. So as soon as I have access to her machine, I will report back.

Thank you and I appreciate your help very much.

Incidentally, at the bottom left of my post, you will see My System Specs and if you click on that you will see all the details about my wife's machine.

Hi,
Yep AMD dual core :/
Might look into a quad core
If you use cpu-z/ cpuid and post the Main board section possibly we can search and see what cpu's are compatible with the board
Scroll down just a bit and on the left you'll see Setup.exe english
CPU-Z | Softwares | CPUID

Win-10 well yea that is a good skip it if she uses a lot of older software
Those darn win-10 updates are though to get rid of completely
http://www.sevenforums.com/windows-...indows-10-upgrade-updates-windows-7-8-a.html\

I personally would recommend Panda free for an antivirus suite it pretty good and windows defender is not :)
Also Malwarebytes even the free version and scan once a week... is good enough

I also like Superantispyware I have the Pro version on most of my installs :)

If she uses a lot of those types of programs possibly the temp folders are bloated you might use this it great I use it weekly too,
Download it to your desktop and right click it and run as administrator
This will also get rid of any java crap left overs,

I have done a few things and it seems a bit better. I am going to get my wife to trial it for a few days and see what happens. I will get back and comment on what happens. Thanks very much so far. :-)
