HELP! I have a couple of issues

Since I have upgraded to windows 7 64bit, my inbuilt webcam doesn't work and also I have a '!' next to the 'mass storage controller' too, and I am not sure what this is 'controlling'!

I am concerned as I don't want to mess things up as I don't have a large font of knowledge...

I am a bit of an amateur so if anyone could help I would appreciate it, and it would need to be a bit of an idiots guide!


My computer is the Sony Vaio VGN - FZ21Z, if this helps, and as I said, it needs to be a 'dummies guide for........'

Thanks, do you save or run the file, and if you do, how do you unzip a file to use it!
and this says it is for Vista so I am confused

Its a large package, over 100mb so save it. make sure you click on the FZ2.. driver package and not on some other model. The drivers are for vista but they'll work fine on win7.

To unzip, download winrar from www.rarlabs.com (save it to your hard disk), double click on the downloaded file to install. Once installed, right click on your driver package and choose "Extract to...folder".

your laptop uses the Intel PM965 chipset. you can download the mass storage controller from there:

If the above methods don't work look in the documentation that came with your computer and see who made the web cam.If it's not there, google it, Ask: who makes webcam for the Sony viao model?______ then go to their website and see if they have a driver for win 7 or vista. I'm sure Sony didn't make the webcam. I had a similar problem with my aspire one laptop. You can download WinZip 12 from Brothersoft.com, and KeygenGuru.com for additional information needed to use the program, if you know what I mean. Good luck.

I usually save them to my desktop> then right click on the download and you'll see extract files click it and it will extract or unzip them to your desktop>click on the setup.exe file and install.
If it's not a Windows seven driver then you'll have to use compatibility mode to install

Then I will usually right click on the original downloaded file and send it to my documents in case I need it later then delete both files.

Your mass storage is your card reader either a Ricoh , Texas instruments or Conexant


I also like to make a habit of creating a restore point before I make any changes to my system, that way a simple uninstall and system restore will put my system back to where it was before I installed anything new. Just in case I have a problem or don't want or like the new driver/program.
