My HD is currently only one partition. I want to make two from it. It says capacity 149 GB, 86 GB free. When I go in to make a partition, it says "Size of Available Shrink 46235 MB". I had planned on making my new partition 80 GB. Why won't it let me do that if 86 GB is free? == Do I have to worry about the 100 MB Reserve Space? Thanks,

Windows 7 places the hibernation file, system restore points and shadow copies about halfway into the largest gap between files on your HDD. If you turn off system restore and hibernation, then run a 3rd party defragmenter that can compact disk space, you will end up with a lot more available shrink space, however, I would NOT recommend using a 3rd party tool to shrink a system partition without first making a system image backup, especially if you have any encrypted files on your HDD.
