Help Please. My Pioneer can read but cant burn.

Hello everyone. I need help about my Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-216

Long time no Burn, today I need Burn a CD, but cant not.

I use nera 8. there is only 'Image recorder' in Current recorder. it has my DVD or CD Disk in Current Recorder if in normal and before.

My system is windows 7 ulitame x86.

do anyone know what is wrong? Thanks best regards. ROY.

Hello RoyYang. Welcome to the forum.

W7 has it's own DVD burning program: Windows DVD Maker. Just type DVD in the START menu. Try and burn a DVD with the windows program. That will determine if the issue is with the hardware or the software.

Optical drives are notoriously fragile, and the laser heads go out of alignment or burn out frequently. It is not practical to try and repair an optical drive.

Fortunately these drives are dirt cheap now. If the issue is hardware related it is usually best to just replace the drive.

I had installed powerISO and Nure 8..
I dont know why...

My Laptop's DVDRW Disc Drive Has A Problem

Just to tell you that it can read discs and it can burn discs. But when I insert a disc inside it, it won't get read until I open 'Computer' for some weird reason...I ordered this laptop online and I have a strong feeling that the stupid courier might have dropped it in the process of shipping it...

If you can not read disks or burn disks then there is the possibility that there is a loose connection inside the case (this is a desktop, correct?).

Open the case and check to be sure the data cable and power cable are properly connected.

You could also go into your BIOS and check to be sure the drive is recognized and enabled there.

If they are connected properly, then check to see if the indicator light on the front of the drive lights up when you boot the computer. See if you can open the disk drawer.

If that is working properly, then go into Device Manager, find the DVD drive, and remove it. Reboot the computer, windows will find and reinstall the drive. Now test again.

If you've checked all above items and it still will not read or write then it is highly likely the unit is defective.
