HELP! With booting up Windows 7 from Grub4DOS

I have windows 7 Proffesional inatalled on my computer, but when i start the computer up and press F8 it goes into advance system menu, from there i can see all these options for safe mode etc. But when i click on any of them it shows only system recovery console to boot up from and not windows 7! If i leave my computer alone and start it up without hitting F8 it keeps booting up System Recovery Console...

I also have Grub4DOS installed when i access this menu by also pressing F8, it shows that widows 7 is installed, when i try to boot it up from Grub4DOS it still takes me system recovery console.. I know that this windows 7 is installed correctly as i used to be able to boot it up from Grub4DOS...

So Basically when i hit the f8 key which allows me to get into advance system settings, and click on anything like safemode there is no option to boot from win 7 but there is only System recovery console, if i click on boot normally it goes into system recovery console. However if i load up grub4DOS there is an option to boot up win 7 but still it does not boot it up..but instead boots up the System recover console.And i use to be able to boot it up from Grub4DOS untill i clicked on boot windows normally in advance system settings.

Would it be possible to fix this problen so that my computer will boot up from windows 7 ??

Thanks nope windows 7 will not boot or start at all, before i had xp, i installed win 7, and windows xp is no longer there, now i have only the grub4dos which shows me an option to boot win7, this option use to work until i clicked boot up normally in advance system settings.. So when i clicked boot normally System recovery console comes up and then from then on when i tried to boot up win7 from grub4dos it keeps going into system recovery console!

When on the same HD GRUB can corrupt Win7, often beyond repair so that they only solution is to wipe the HD with zeroes using Diskpart and reinstall.

If you can access GRUB I would uninstall it.

Boot the Win7 DVD Repair console or Repair CD, use Diskpart to make sure Win7 or it's 100mb boot partition (preferred) is marked Active, then run Startup Repair up to 3 separate times with reboots until Win7 starts.

Have a look through this tutorial at the link below to see if it will help though I'm not sure it will, mark the Windows 7 partition as active and do the startup repairs to see if you can get it booting.

Grub may have destroyed the boot files and you may have to start over with a clean install with a wipe first to completely remove Grub, something to keep in mind if you can't get Windows 7 booting again; have a look at this info below for future reference.


After you have copied out or made back-ups of the data you need to save to external media, use Step One of this tutorial at the link below to do a wipe (secure erase) to the entire Hard Disk Drive / Solid State Drive.

• Then if you do not want to create the new Windows 7 "System Reserved" partition use the outline in Step Two #2 to create, format and mark Active a single 100GB partition to do the installation to.
• If you do want to create the "System Reserved" partition use the outline in Step Two #3 to create, format and mark Active the System Reserved partition and then create and format the 100GB partition to do the installation to.

Either way, running the "clean all" then creating and formatting the partition(s) using diskpart will get you the best possible space to do a clean install of Windows 7 to; you can always extend the Windows partition to include the remaining unallocated space on the HDD / SSD or create additional Primary partitions or an Extended partition after the installation completes if you choose.
