Solved How do i change my dynamic disk's into basic again? D:

I wanted to partition 90 GB from my C drive so that i can install Windows 8.
When i tried to rename the acollated 90 GB to Windows 8 it turned all my disks including c and all my disks into dynamic, i put back my 90 GB into my C and nothing happen. The color is like greenish and i want it back to basic TYPE: Basic

What did i do wrong???

Also on my C Drive it says its not the Primary Partition ?!?

Im actually scared right now because i don't have any usb's to back my files up and i don't know what i did really i just wanted to rename the disk that's all....

Also im using Windows 7

You can use OPTION TWO in the tutorial above to convert your Disk 0 back to basic without losing anything.

The main thing is do not restart or shut down the computer until you have done OPTION TWO. If you do, Windows 7 will be unbootable, and you will have to use step 1 in OPTION ONE instead.

Find some partition error, continue this operation might cause boot failure and data loss, are you sure yo proceed?

Also theres a red ! point on the right hand side also i dont have #disk 0 i have #disk 1. I don't see that ! point on the screen shot tutorial

Did you try and convert the Disk # that is dynamic?

Could you post a full screenshot of showing all this in the program?

If you have not already, create a set of HP factory recovery discs in case you have to do a factory recovery.

Next, it looks like you will need to use OPTION ONE instead. If you have the same error using step 3 in OPTION ONE, then you'll need to use step 2 in OPTION ONE at boot.

Great news.

You could use METHOD TWO in the tutorial below to shrink C by 90 GB, and create a new logical partition from the unallocated space to use for Windows 8.

The problem you had with all of this is that your HP computer came with 4 primary partitions already setup on the disk, which is the limit for a "basic" disk. That's why it wanted to convert the disk to dynamic. The tutorial above will let you workaround this by using an extended logical partition instead, and still keep it as a basic disk.
