Solved How do I display all currently open windows?

I've tried a search for this and couldn't find anything, but please re-direct me if this has been discussed elsewhere.

Sometimes, while working on my PC, my display goes like this:



(Ignore the content of the windows...)

I don't know how or why it happens. It seems to happen after a minor mouse movement but otherwise I'm clueless. However, its a very useful feature and any of those open windows can be clicked on. Does anyone know how to (intentionally) make this happen?

Hello pjam, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You might check to see if it's from pressing a button on the mouse that triggers this. If you mouse has additional buttons than the usual left and right click buttons, then they can often be set to perform functions such as this.

Something else to check after checking your mouse button configuration.
... do you have any 3rd party software on the machine such as a window or tile manager?

I first though of Windows Aero (maybe it's not Aero) where the Windows Key + tab scolls through the open windows - but that's not what your screen shot shows.

Hmm, can't tell why it happens on your machine, but I think Brink might be on to something (he usually is)

A right click on the taskbar brings up the alt menu where you can select "Show Windows side by side"

I think you might notice if you had to preform the steps

but... if there is a mouse button defined to perform the steps, you might not realize that you accidently hit that button
I have a mouse with 5 buttons and I often hit the small one one the side

The mouse is a logitech m600 - a mouse with only a left and right click and no funny buttons on the side. However, its essentially got a touch pad over the top that you use for scrolling. That opens up a whole realm of possible swipes or other movements that could have triggered it. I thought of this and looked it up but there's no mention of it.

Slartybart, the "Show windows side by side" function is similar, but not the same. Showing side by side is essentially re-sizing all the windows. This function is much like a Windows Aero in the sense that clicking one of the windows takes you to that window in full screen!

Between you you're bang on. It is indeed a function of the mouse (a double-tap on the touch pad). Thanks!

Most Logitech mice have this feature, in my Performance MX it's the button shown in screenshot below. I find it a very practical feature, using it a lot.

Although you do not need to install drivers for Logitech mice, extra features like this only work when Logitech SetPoint drivers and software are installed.

That's a nice feature. I'm glad you found out what was doing it. If you like you may be able to adjust it in the SetPoint settings.
