How Do I Find And Use Windows Installer To Install Software

I have a program yEd running on one computer. I want to use it on a second computer but when I try to run it it gives an error message that JVM is damaged and to reinstall EXE_41_JAVA_HOME. I expect that means that Java is broken or missing. I'm reluctant to install Java on the computer because of its exposure issues (I don't know how it got on the first computer).

The yEd user forum says you can "use one of the Windows installers with embedded Java runtime environment. (The Java runtime environment that comes with these installers will not be registered in your system and thus will be effectively available only to your yEd installation.)

Where is the Windows Installer? And how would I point it to install the software?

You can install Java and all will be fine. Where problems start is via execution via the browser. So in your browser make sure its plug-in is disabled.

Java is Oracle though and there is telemetry...

Note: There is a 32 and 64 bit versions of Java. You can install both side by side. Chances are your program needs the 32 bit version.

Here's some alternatives.

I understand it's safe to install Java - as long as I can find the plug-in to disable it. - I don't see a plug-in listed in Firefox Add-ons nor in Avast Extensions (on a computer that has Java on it).
And how do I find / get to the Windows installer to install Java on the main computer? (sorry for the delay in responding but I had computer issues for a while.)

If the Java plug-in is not listed under Plug-ins in Firefox then it probably isn't installed in the browser. But to be absolutely sure, in Firefox's address bar type this: about:plugins and hit enter.

Java is here: https://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

The offline installer is bigger because it's the whole thing. The smaller online download is a downloader stub. It just fetches the whole thing via its downloader stub. If you need a 64 bit version of Java you will also have to install that in addition to the 32 bit version.
