I am under some medication which works sometimes negatively on my fingers.
And some S/W that one company uses, is so sensative to any writing I try to do,
I sometimes have to write messages more than once.
For that reason I still have and use a mouse. So I would like to turn off the 'Touchpad'.
Does anybody know I should go about doing this?

Settings for a touchpad aren't standardized like other setting so it really could be anywhere, depending on the manufacturer. It could be under mouse settings, it could be a hot key as oscer1 mentioned, you might try keyboard settings, there might be a separate utility for touch pad, or unfortunately the manufacturer might not have added the ability to control touchpad. It might help to share more information on your laptop or you can google it and search for the make and model. You might also check under device manager to see if it shows up there. If so you should be able to disable it from there.
