Short version: I want to uninstall the Dell Update program.
Longer version: I was seeing some sporadic performance issues and found errors in the event log about pcdrcui.exe (A Dell support utility) faulting all over the place, which after googling there was indication could be a problem (it has many Dell community complaints), perhaps even corrupt and should be removed. I figured to remove it before trying to reinstall it.
I cannot remove it.
Trying to Uninstall Dell Update from the control panel quietly fails to do anything.
Likewise, CCleaner (free) is unable to uninstall it and also unable to delete it.
The windows registry shows an uninstall string MsiExec.exe /I{632610E3-5B12-403C-9C93-EF533ED1C113}
which if executed at an elevated command prompt does indeed run the Dell Update Setup, but it fails with the message "Dell Update Setup Wizard ended prematurely"
I have tried turning off any dell related update services prior to the install, and Windows is otherwise up-to-date and SFC /SCANNOW says all is good, but still I cannot uninstall the darn dell program.
Yes, as Brink has suggested to other users, I have tried downloading and installing the latest version of the application, but that fails "prematurely" as well.
As I have no warranty with Dell, can someone point me at a program that will remove the dang thing, or provide brute force instructions? Thanks, in advance.
