I have two folers named "Malwarebytes - Anti-Malware. Im trying to delete one and don't have permiossion. The message says an administrator must give permissions. My other user account is the built-in admin account. I use that and still cannot delete the folder OR change permission. I go to the elevated prompt in the built-in admin. and still cannot change permission or add "everyone" to the list of users. What gives?

Hello William,

You might see if the free program Unlocker may be able to delete the folder for you. :)

With MBAM 2, they changed the name of a folder so it does not have the tick mark in the folder name.

In MBAM 2 the folder name is Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
In MBAM 1 the folder name is Malwarebytes'Anti-Malware

Just be careful which folder you delete, depending on the version of MBAM you are using ...

The folder I'm talking about in Win 7 64 Bit / MBAM 2 is
C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware

Which Malwarebytes version are you trying to remove?

Please let me know if the post is out of place and I will remove it.

The new versions have a protection built in.
Advance/Self Protection early start. I believe this stops Malwarebytes from being altered.
Malwarebytes 2.0.2.1004 has the same settings.

Malwarebytes self protection..PNG

We are all new to the new Malwarebyes so I could be wrong.

Post # 103 might be of help and useful.

The active version is 1.75.0.1., the version in Ubuntu Trash folder is ver. 1.0.1. By going into Ubunto I was able to send the folder NOT containing the tick to the trash bin. When I went back to W7 it was gone and the only one remaining did have the tick mark and contained mbam.exe ver:1.75.0.1
Have I done it right?

Are you sure the version in Ubuntu Trash folder is ver. 1.0.1 ?
Could that be a typo, and it's really 2.0.1 ?
Did you install Ver 2, and then install (or reinstall) Ver 1 after installing Ver 2 ?

If your Ver 1.75 is working correctly now, you can continue to use it for about a year.

Do you have the Paid or Free version?
If you have the Paid version, make sure you have your License ID and Key BEFORE running the mbam-clean utility (if you ever need to).

From post # 6.

MalwareBytes 2.0.1 taking forever to scan

I have no idea what it does with Ubuntu.

From that thread.
A removal tool.

I have the Pro version and this is what I used and then installed version
2.0.2.1007 on two computers and things work just fine.

  1. Please try the following and let me know if this corrects your issue or not. - MBAM Clean Removal Process 2x
  2. If that does not correct the issue then please read the following and post back the requested logs. - Diagnostic Logs
  3. NOTE: There is an FAQ section with valuable information located here: - Common Questions, Issues, and their Solutions
  4. NOTE: I would also highly suggest you try installing the new beta which has corrected some previously reported issues (each of your previous installs were the original build 1004 not 1007 ): - Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.0.2 Public Beta
