How to copy pictures, not move?

Hi
Is there a way to change settings for when I drag a picture to another folder from MOVE to COPY? I know you can hold ctl and drag, but I thought before in XP I just dragged them? Maybe not??
I want to make a collection of pictures to take to be printed, but can only move at the moment.

You can either use the right click and copy/paste

or

if using the drag and drop if you hold the Ctrl key after starting the drag operation this will change from move to copy.

The rules for drag and drop are fixed so that items dragged are moved to another folder on the same drive and copied to another drive the Ctrl or Shift keys may be used to modify the action (check the + on the little folder Icon.

This is the same behaviour as has been with Windows since the beginning

If you want to add a "copy to folder" and/or "move to folder" menu item to the explorer right click context menu you can use a little free app to add those. It's called the "ultimate windows tweaker" and doesn't even need to be installed. You just run it, check some boxes and it's done. Never have to run the app again unless you want to remove those menu items at some later time. Here's a screen shot of the part of the app that lets you add those menu items.
