how to delete windows old?

hello i have gone from vista to windows 7 64 bit and now i have got windows old files and i cannot get rid of them,i have tried disk cleanup but cannot see the files,does anyone know how i can delete them please?

Try taking ownership of the folder.

Type cleanmgr /sageset:1 in start search.

It's safe to select all the boxes ( except setup log files) Click Ok .

Rt click the desktop - select new shortcut.

Type cleanmgr /sagerun:1

Click Next, click Finish.

Run the shortcut anytime to clean up.

Click on computer Icon...right click c drive .....properties.....disc clean up Make sure you check clean system file. Do it 3 times or so. Files are large and it took me 2 tries to clean it all. The clean up should be part of your regular maintenance, anyway.

Sometimes the contents of Windows.old will be gone, but the folder and some subfolders are still there and undeleteable, because it "Cannot be found".
If this is the case, try the following:


- Open an elevated Command Prompt
- Paste this command: rd /s /q c:\windows.old
- Hit Enter

thank you i found a program which takes ownership and i then deleted windows.old
surely i can be administrator all the time so i can do anything ?
