I believe what theog suggested is that your system has probably been infected with malware/virus. The stand-alone System Sweeper program he linked to will allow you to run a virus scan - removal tool outside of the operating system.

You may need to download the program and burn your CD on another computer of course.

You can normally shut down a frozen laptop by pressing and holding the power/ON button for 10 to 15 seconds. This is a forced shutdown and Windows should pause when you start up again and recommend Safe Mode. If it does then try to boot into Safe Mode.

For rebooting you could try this: Press the Start Key (WIN Key). If the start box appears, press the right arrow key twice. Then press the letter "R". That should restart your system.

And tell me exactly what happens when starting pc normally. Does it try to startup windows normally and enters "recovery environment" automatically? Or did you select "recovery" from bootmenu?

Do you see recovery environment loading by a progress bar or something like that? Did it ask for a current windows installation and did you select one? Or couldn't it find one? Did you see options like "startup repair" , "command prompt"?

Please explain what happens

This is a long shot, but could you check to see if there is a disk in the CD/DVD drive?

Here is some tutorials to clarify and help you do what Kaktussoft is suggesting:

To get to the advanced boot option screen:
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/666-advanced-boot-options.html
And then select "Repair Your Computer"

To get to a command prompt once inside :
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/668-system-recovery-options.html
And then choose "Command Prompt"

Then you can follow Kaktussoft's directions.
Hope that helps
