Doing a clean install is a good move: goodbye to all the mess and crap, but at the price of saying goodbye to all of your files and settings too. Anyway, say hello to a fresh and clean Windows 7.

Do you have a Win7 DVD for your version to clean reinstall? Or are you going to use Factory Recovery partition which also recovers all of the bloatware that came with the computer?

You can first try the Repair Install following these steps: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html?ltr=R

Back up your files externally first.

If you decide to do a clean reinstall using WIn7 DVD, wipe the HD first http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/91339-ssd-hdd-optimize-windows-reinstallation.html unlesss you want to keep your Recovery partition in which case just format your Win7 partition using booted WIn7 installer.

Make your Recovery Disks before you wipe the Recovery partition. Look in All Programs to find the utility which makes Recovery Disks, or in setup literature or in your Manual on the Sony Support website.

Do you have a install DVD for your version of WIn7?

The installer is mostly driver-complete, with newer arriving quickly via optional Windows Updates. Any drivers then missing in Device Manager can be found on the Sony Support Downloads webpage for your model computer. I wouldn't swap out drivers given by installer or Updates unless performance dictates.

Put your wireless driver on a flash stick or CD in case it isn't provided by installer so that you can get online quickly to get Updates and the rest of your drivers.

Make sure you have the latest BIOS version update or install it from Win7. Set the SATA controller to AHCI right before install. Make sure your DVD drive is set first to boot, before HD.

^^^^
i did all that ;)
