You do need the application as well as the drivers. If you want, PM me your email address. and I will email you the program you need. Check the CDs that came with the motherboard (if you built you rig). That's where I got mine. You can probably find it online, too.

I wish I were in your shoes.

I don't like the manager, but it got installed along with the drivers.

Check in Control Panel... there is a Realtek Audio Manager there.. DoubleClick and the manager should appear... that works for me after 2.36

Or is it maybe because I have two onboard sound cards - one is HDMI (using high definition audio driver) and one optical (using realtek high def audio driver)??

Possibly. Check you BIOS to set the primary sound card to the desired one.

I`m using the default audio driver that installs with Windows 7. I use the sound icon in control panel to configure the speakers and it works as well or better than the realtech sound manager. I tried the R2.35 driver and the realtech audio manager and that worked also but I prefer the default driver on my system.

So you went to Control Panel, and Realtek HD Audio Manager is not there?

yes! i know what to do..(worked for me) after downlding the latest driver click to install it.. after its installed restart er comp..then again click the driver to install ..This it will take more time than the previous session and after it completes, chck the realtek folder in your program file folder. chck the folder for the most obsessed RtHDVcpl.exe icon in the HDV folder..run it and surrender your ears to the ecstasy of virtual surround sound.
Btw if the installer asks you to restart er comp..do it without any fear..Hope this helps you!
