Solved IE Fixed - I Think

One of my neighbours asked me to look at her laptop, the problem was, when using IE, it would stop responding, this seemed to be with sites that you needed to log in to, Amazon, ebay etc, but not general surfing, so I went though updating Windows 7 (Automatic Updates) that installed IE11 and I went though the usual IE Crashes, the problem seems to lie with

I couldn't find what c:\windows\system32\tprb\5141\nsib.dll obviously a DLL, but what installed it? I cut the tprb and sub folders from system32 and put it in temp, just in case it was needed and it's soo much better, but does anyone know what would have installed the DLL? Just curious.

A search of the web suggests that nsib.dll belongs to a toolbar named WebToolbar.Win32.Perinet.d

Thanks for that, I had uninstalled some toolbars in Add and Remove Programms, but that one wasn't listed.

Here's a list of apps from the same company that made that dll file. Note the high removal percentage on most of them:

I would do a scan with this as well since it's pretty good in detecting "potentially unwanted" things:

Ah, That explains it, she had IB Updater Service installed.

I have a question for ThrashZone , how pointed you in the direction of 'WebToolbar.Win32.Perinet.d', I went to 'http://www.herdprotect.com/nsib.dll-...d82831893.aspx ' and couldn't see anything there that pointed to a WebToolbar.

Look into Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features whether that toolbar shows up there.

That wasn't mentioned in the herdprotect link, but in the first link to the Microsoft Community.

Thanks for all your help with this, I had given the laptop back to the neighbour once I had moved the DLL and tested, but if it still causes her problems I'll try these.

I've been using MSE/ MBAM Pro still available at Newegg and I believe amazon for pretty cheap compared to the subscription based Premium version get it while they last
