When I open IE10 after a fresh boot or system restart, I often get the message "Your last browsing session closed unexpectedly", with the choices of opening last session or going to my homepage. But when I select "open the last session" it doesn't open my previous tabs, instead it pops open many separate new windows, all of which go to my homepage. Usually the "Restore previous session" function in the Tools menu is greyed out in all of them at that point so I can't even get my previous tabs back even though that's what the recovery feature was supposed to have done.
When I searched for this problem I discovered it has been going on for at least the past three major versions of IE with many people complaining about it. How can Microsoft allow such a well-known bug to continue to go unfixed for so many years? Anyway, the answer I found on this site which goes all the way back to IE8 suggests disabling Crash Recovery, but believe it or not I want to be able to use crash recovery to restore what I was actually looking at in case of, you know, a crash. Or the more common scenario is not even a crash, I just want to reboot my machine periodically and then restore the tabs I was looking at.
Is there any other way to solve this besides disabling a feature I try to rely on?
