But I just F...D my Windows 7 boot....
I had 4 partitions... 1. 100mb system, 2. win 7 Ult x64, 3. extended, 4. extended
I installed Backtrack Linux on 3d. partition, and now everything is fuc...d up...
PC doesnt boot at all,... it just writes "GRUB" all over the screen in an endless loop,...
I cannot boot in win nor linux.
I tried all of the above with absolutely no results.
I even deleted the 1. system partition,.... still the "GRUB" loop
I tried repairing more than 3 times as said before,... with no luck at all

hi guys,
thanks for the link,.. but it didn't help...
I even deleted all of the partitions, than made 2 new partitions, formated them,...
restarted just to be sure the GRUB loop is gone,....but I still get the GRUB,.. not the loop but written just once, until I reboot again,....
finally I installed windows again, and that made the GRUB problem go away...now it boots just fine,...
Im clueless what happened, but Im glad it worked, cos for the moment I thought I would need to replace my HDD...

GRUB corrupts Win7 when installed on the same HD.

Best to add a second HD if you want to dual boot with Linux, then use BIOS to boot into either HD.

btw,.. I managed to avoid 100mb system partition doing this:

during a install process when I was given the option to chose a partition to install win7, win7 indeed made a 100mb partition for system....

First I was trying to delete the 100mb partition and expand the bigger partition with unlocated space, but win7 made 100mb again after I try to install,...
Than I deleted the second partition, leaving unlocated space, and than expanded 100mb partition to use all the space, and that did the trick,.. I ended up with just one partition on which I installed windows.

strange, but it worked just fine...
maybe it can help someone

Hello CROiga.

The one sure way to not get the 100MB "System, Reserved" partition is to use diskpart to create the installation partition at the beginning of the install setup; have a look at this tutorial at the link below and the snip to see how.

DISKPART : At PC Startup
