installed windows 7 and windows xp in different hard drive modes

I installed windows 7 a while ago while my bios settings were in ahci mode. Just today I installed windows xp for older games and the setup was having problems so I switched to Serial ATA mode to install it (I used EasyBCD to fix the boot configuration) and when I tried to boot into windows 7 it would bluesceen on bootup, which I expected so I change the BIOS configuration back to ahci mode and then windows xp would reset on bootup because it doesn't have an ahci driver, I know I can just switch modes when I need to boot into xp but it's going to be really annoying. How can I fix this?

You can do a search for windows xp ahci and find many articles about this.

I've never done this so i have no personal experience.

I tried this but I don't have the drivers necessary, when trying to install the OEM software that's supposed to fix this it says that it is not applicable to this computer

If you can get another 4gigs memory into your laptop it will be a lot less frustrating to put your XP into Virtual Box in W7. Your four G's you have now will be a bit of a bottleneck.
I went through the whole bit trying get the Intel drivers and gave up as a lost cause.

my laptop is a Dell Inspiron 1545 but I looked though the driver and found a program called the intel matrix storage for it. But when I tried installing is it said something like it was not applicable to this system

you can forget about this because my laptop just had a motherboard failure and no longer works, but to answer your question. when I try to install it says that it isn't available for this system
