I am trying to install 3D Home Architect Deluxe 2.1 under Win 7.
it was originally under Win 98 but also worked successfully on XP.
When I try to install under Win 7 the autorun install starts up, i click Install button
then get the message:
The system cannot find the file specified
The error occurred while executing the following command:
F:\setup\is_setup.exe setup32
F:\setup\autorun\autorun.exe /h
but these two files and or paths ARE there.
i then try as compatibility mode Windows XP SP3
Get the message about
The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you are running...
run as administrator Same
try compatibility mode Win 95 Same
dd Run as Administrator Same
Compatibility Win 98 Same
etc.
Any ideas?

Some old programs are just not compatible with Windows 7.
I would recommend downloading Windows Virtual PC or Virtual Box and installing an old copy of Windows XP or 98 in it.

Getting old programs to work can be way more trouble than it's worth and virtualisation is fairly simple now a days.

Of course the other alternative is to find another program with similar capabilities, I'm not familiar with 3D Home Architect Deluxe 2.1 but could Google Sketch Up do the same thing?

Oops sorry, forgot it didn't run on Home Premium for a minute there. Virtual Box will do the job if you have an old copy of XP or 98 lying around.
