Solved Intel RST problem

So I am having a problem updating my Intel RST on my system. Currently I have version 11.7.0.1013 on my system. All my other systems had the same version.

So I have been updating all my systems to the 12.6.0.1033 version and all went well, but my main rig has a problem. It is not updating the driver.

I poked around all my other systems and what I am finding out is weird. In the C:\Windows\system32\drivers folder in my problem rig shows the following:
iaStorA.sys - 11.7.0.1013
iaStorF.sys - 11.7.0.1013
iaStorV.sys - 8.6.2.1014

These are the versions even after I install the new 12.6.0.1033

Now on all my other systems they show:
iaStorA.sys - 12.6.0.1033
iaStorF.sys - 12.6.0.1033
iaStorV.sys - 8.6.2.1014

So I am trying to figure out what is blocking the files from updating? Why is the Intel RST having a tough time removing the old files and installing the new ones? I turned off my firewall program which is Comodo (loaded on other systems as well) during installing. I turned off my anti-virus program as well. I also checked in the registry and all three entries for iaStor are there.

I also tried switching back to the standard driver (msahci), rebooted and all was fine. I tried to then install the Intel RST while in msahci mode, rebooted and then I went to go check the versions again and the 11.7.0.1013 files are still there.

So how do I get these drivers installed? Or what do I need to fix before installing the drivers? My system is Windows 7 Pro 64-bit O/S

Okay some work done. Here is what is happening. Followed directions; device manager and set IDE/ATAPi to standard AHCI. Rebooted works like a charm. Now for more details, I have Comodo Program Manager installed. Use that to uninstall Intel RST. Comodo found all entries and registry entries and deleted. Reboot and I cannot get past the Windows 7 welcome; it just reboots.
Imaged back my system and did this:
device manager and set the IDE/ATAPI to standard ahci. Again works like a charm. Rebooted. This time I used the Windows uninstall to get rid of Intel RST. Rebooted and no problems. however, the files I mentioned above are still there. Tested on another system and the iaStorA and F get removed leaving only the V one behind.

This Intel RST is buggy, now another system which the install went well for whatever reason reverted back to the msahci driver on it's own. Beware people.

So back to my issue, So any dare to take this problem on? Why does the Intel program not remove the old drivers and then in place put the new ones. I also checked the services, it said the Intel RST was started, but the icon in the bottom right corner stated it is NOT running.

Either way, tried using the Windows 7 rescue disk and still no joy. During the recovery it sees the operating system and it also says next to it (recovered), I cannot do anything in the command prompts. It says that a repair has been initiated and needs to restart. That too becomes an endless loop. So any takers?

Did some work, just to cover myself I ran memtest86, 2 passes per stick all pass. Another thing i noticed during all this is that when you install the Intel RST you typically reboot and then on the desktop you get pop up bubbles stating your drives are ready to use and then you get another note stating to reboot. My system never does this at any point.

So anyone?

So something is up with this driver. I got the driver just a day or two ago. I just checked now and it has been removed from the Intel website.

I also found an old thread that back in the early version 11's there were issues also with not removing old drivers and moving them to the repository. In that thread it was said to go and use the Microsoft drivers and then to remove the iaStorA and F. So I just did that on another system and guess what, does not boot anymore. I am no expert, but this stinks. Why would deleting drivers that are not in use nor are needed for boot up and registry entries remain even after uninstalling? Looking at systems with just msahci, no iaStorA or F on them at all and they work just fine.

Beware, 12.6.0.1033 is bad news.
