Intermittent Crashing with Windows 7

Ever since this rig was built, I have had intermittent crashes with first Vista and now Windows 7.

I have sent the MB back for repairs. I just changed to new velociraptor a couple of weeks ago (problem started before new HD). I bought new RAM thinking it was to blame (G-Skill to Corsair). I just got the new video card (probs started before this too) a week before the new HD. I am tired of this crap now. I have never had any problems like this before with any other custom built rig. I also built a rig for the wife at same time (not the same components) but she has had no problems.

I have reinstalled the OS a couple of times now hoping that was the fix but to no avail. Crash\Rebooting of computer happens at different times. Somtimes I'm on the puter when it crashes and other times I have come back to the puter to see that it has reboot but whatever the case, it is never the same thing that I am doing to have it crash.

I wish I would have kept all the minidump files from the other times before reinstalling but I pray that these will shed some light on the problem.

OK, let's start with a couple of your older drivers that are known to cause problems:
ASACPI.SYS - download the ATK0110 ACPI utility from the Utilities section of this page: ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support- download_item_mkt

Next, please do this with your Norton/Symantec protection:

Anti-Virus Removal:
Please do the following:
- download a free antivirus for testing purposes: Free AntiVirus
- uninstall the Norton from your system
- remove any remnants of Norton using this free tool: Download and run the Norton Removal Tool
- IMMEDIATELY install and update the free antivirus
- check to see if this fixes the BSOD's

Then, please do this for the remaining older drivers (in particular the networking drivers):

Please update or remove these older drivers that were loaded at the time of the crash. Don't use Windows Update or the Update drivers function of Device Manager. Please use the following instructions to locate the most current drivers:

How To Find Updated Drivers:
- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.
