Last weekend I updated some old hardware in my computer (New Motherboard, CPU,Graphics Card, and Harddrive) so I had to do a re-install of my Windows 7 Home premium 64bit. I had to go dig out my windows 7 CD, and I've had the activation key sticker on the side of my box for years, so I used the exact CD and activation code that I've used previously. Unfortunately, I noticed today I was getting a popup for an invalid key. I re-entered my key but I'm getting a "The product key you typed cannot be used to activate Windows on this computer".
After reading a previous thread in these forums http://www.sevenforums.com/windows-updates-activation/325805-product-key-installed-but-not-genuine.html, I went to Genuine Microsoft Software and ran the legitcheck. It pops up, saying it's doing "windows validation in process" after about 10 seconds, it brings me to a page saying Welcome to Windows! As a genuine user blah blah here's some complementary Microsoft security essentials! So one program (the Windows Activation program) is saying it's invalid, and another program (Microsoft's legitcheck validation) is saying it's valid.
Here's the MGADiag log.
Any help trying to help me resolve this is greatly appreciated, I don't want to have to buy another activation code, I was just planning on waiting for Windows 10. On another note, I am pretty novice at this stuff, it was my first build/installation on my own without a tech savvy friends help, so if you could use layman's terms, that would be wonderful, thanks!
