I am trying to capture video using a Pinnacle 510-usb. So im having all sorts of issues with it. After spending a couple of days with Pinnacle doing this and that to no avail, I began searching the google. Ive found posts relating to the issues being due to USB sharing IRQ's with other system devices and there not being enough bandwidth to preform the capture.

That's where I am in this and I cannot find how to change the IRQ Assignment in windows 7. The manually change buttons in the device manager are grayed out and I cant seem to find any sort of manual IRQ assigning in the bios.

Which brings my quest here. Do any of you know how I can enable the ability to change the IRQ?

Generally speaking, IRQ assignment is handled by win 7 and when there is a conflict it is usually caused by a driver. Have you updated all the drivers on your system including BIOS?

Yeah, all the drivers are updated. But the issue isn't a conflict. its a lack of resources. I need to manually reassign the IRQ of the usb port to be by itself according to what Ive found on the Google.

You can't, not in any current Microsoft OS. Its system managed by ACPI. Does your system meet the minimum system requirements required for that Pinnacle device? You might want to fill in the system specs section in your profile.

i'm working with several systems to do this. I am having the issue with two of them. I fixed one of them earlier today as I found a USB port that was on its own IRQ as set by windows. The system that is still having the issue shares the IRQ with the video card, sound card and USB. The system far exceeds the minimum system requirements for that device.

I didnt include that information as its not my primary system but work systems I am working with. In addition i felt that it would be improper to use this post to try and solve the issue as its not really a windows 7 issue im having. I just need to reassighn IRQ's I would love to be able to just switch out card placement but unfortunately its one of those computer/screen all in one jobs. The one I have left is a Lenovo intel core duo 2.2 with intel video and audio. running win 7 professional 64 bit. 6 or 8 gig of ram (cant remember and im not at work to look) And i think the video has 512mb.

pretty tough computer but there is too much going on for the usb assignment.

So if the IRQ's are not changeable then were gonna have to seek other options.

Link this google result that told you to adjust the IRQ.
I'm guessing this 510 isn't Win7 compatible, I looked real quick and found XP drivers dated 2008 for it, so I know this is not a new thing, might not even work with Vista.
I've lost hardware that became useless with new Windows.

Basically since XP Windows has internally juggled Interrupt ReQuests (IRQ).
It's been years but IRQ's were a royal pain in the a$$ in DOS and Win 3.1/95/98 at times.

I had a motherboard like that, it was hard wired like that, there was no way you could separate those three items so that they could each use a different IRQ. They were locked together by the motherboard design.

Have you tried disabling unused ports in BIOS? Like parallel and serial ports?

Yeah slots/controller hardwired to certain IRQs, my current mobo is definitely still doing that, even with the 3 I can change from auto to IRQ of my choosing which I set to the ones that are disabled for other OLD obsolete ports: 3/4/7, certain features always share the same IRQ, and fortunately Windows can juggle them, or I'd be pretty pissed that the PCIe-16 slot was sharing with ANYTHING else (which POST shows it is).
