Just installed Simplix; started it and left for shower, on return 35min later there were two popups - Avast telling me it had quarantined "advpack.exe", and simplix wanting to reboot. Rebooted, got the "configuring updates, do not turn off your computer", then "configuring windows, do not turn off your computer". Another reboot, repeat of messages, a third reboot and same messages. Apparently it was done now; installed Malwarebytes with no problem (it wouldn't install previously, complaining of missing security updates). Installed VPN, it wanted missing updates - five KB files, one greyed out, and "webview"; OK, do your thing. A few minutes later four popups in a row, one for each KB, "the update is not applicable for the system", then an eternity installing webview. The VPN works now.
In windows update, in "installed updates" only two files are shown, the last two pertaining to dotnet 48. So, is this system "good to go"? Here is the simplix log:
