Issue connecting to networked printer on XP from Win 7 computer

Another step to take is to try the following...

1, Open up 'Devices and Printers' from the Start Menu
Step 1 - Devices and Printers.PNG
2, Click 'Add Printer'
Step 2 - Add Printer.PNG
3, Click 'Add a Network, Wireless or Bluetooth printer'
Step 3 - Searching printers.PNG

From there, the printer on your network should appear.
   Tip
If asked for the disk then direct it to where you extracted the files from the last link I provided

I tried this at the very beginning and it doesn't like any driver I've downloaded, only the ones it can find with Windows Update. Also, when I click "Have Disk" it still only wants an IPI file?

Thanks a again for helping me with this!

* Sorry, I don't click "Have Disk", it just prompts for an IPI file

Does the XP machine have the LLTD protocol? Download details: Link Layer Topology Discovery (LLTD) Responder (KB922120)

Hi,

I have a Toshiba E-Studio25 connected to a PC running XP. I just added a new Win 7 64bit PC to my network and just can't get it to print. I've set up a new local port and pointed it to the Toshiba, if I install a generic driver such as a HP Laserjet 4, it will send the print job to the printer and I can see it on the XP computers print list, but it won't print. I think it must be something to do with the driver, but it's an older printer that should work off a generic HP driver. I've even downloaded a Vista 64bit driver for the estudio25 from Toshibas site, but this resulted in a spooling error message. I have to get this working, would be very greatful of some help!

Thanks :)

Hi,

Just tried installing the LLTD on the XP Machine but still nothing.

If I don't cancel spooling on the XP machine, I get a "Spooler SubSystem App has encountered a problem and needs to close" message on the XP, and in the print list it shows it as a "remote downlevel document" which just wont print.

I have a driver for the machine for Vista 64bit, I don't understand why this won't work? Also I have 4 other XP computers and one Vista computer on the network which I have no problems printing from.
