Solved Keep Receiving "Windows could not start driver config service" on boot

Here are the pics right after a clean boot, no checks in the startup menu, and MS services hidden.

All of those can be unchecked. If you're missing a function needed when you plug in your phone then try adding back those clearly labeled for phone. If you are synching iPhone Then ITunes may need to stay checked. But only if you know for sure you need these.

After restart uninstall the worst AV besides MucAfee, Norton, in Control Panel>Programs. Then install free MSE.

We see Norton nightmares here almost daily due to its overweening bloat. I just now answered a thread where it corrupted registry

I do enjoy visiting Redmond campus though in November for Global MVP Summit.

Gregrocker, was I suppose to leave the startup boxes unchecked also? With startup checked and Sevices unchecked I still got the error. So I did a binary search of the Startup file (divide and conquer if you will). I was able to isolate the culprit and it turns out to be a startup file by Microsoft called "ReverseString". I disable it and no more error. I will uncheck the rest if you think I should. Performance is good, but have not had time to swap out the AV software. My son absolutely supported what you said about the AV software. It is the only thing he uses. Thanks for the offer of additional help, but I have had my fill of computers for a few days. I will post after I swap the AV software. Thanks again for all the help.

Yes uncheck everything except Microsoft Security Essentials that should replace Norton. They are freeloaders riding on Windows back.

I wanted to send a final post and thank you again for all the help with my Windows7 problem. The computer is once again a dream to use. The error message is gone and there has been no BSOD during three days of hard use. Before you offered help, I was getting the BSOD at least once a day. Now my Firefox and Outlook snaps up on the screen like it use too. Thank you again so much for the help....Footnotes
