Keyboard not detected

I am running windows 7 ultimate. The problem I am having is I put the machine in sleep mode and came back a day later. I don't norma do that. I attempted to start it and it hung up in the Window resume. After that, it wanted to go into a repair mode or resume. Well, the keyboard wasn't detected. I had no way to select anything. I tried a different keyboard. I tried a repair disk, but it too needed the keyboard. The replacement keyboard didn't work either. The keyboard has always been late on being detected during startup. A message always came up that no keyboard detected, but just for a second or so. Then the machine always started, so I didn't get too concerned. I cut the power thinking it may reset its self, but no luck there. How can I gain access to the start-up so I can communicate with the machine without a keyboard? Perhaps there is a way to reset it. The mouse and The keyboard don't work at all. It appears startup hasn't turned them on yet.

One way to "gain" a keyboard is by use of the onscreen virtual device which although Clunky can allow you to do the basics until your hardware unit comes back correctly.

What I wold also do is consider replacing the CMOS battery, these, when approaching end of use, can cause various issues with recall of settings

Another option, which would "cost" you 16GB of disk space, is to switch to Hibernation rather than sleep, as this would save a complete package of your memory state at shutdown
