Solved Laggy Windows 7, possibly due to corrupt files

As these are all tied together in some loose fashion, you might want to see what Windows Updates offers after changing ther CBS with SURT and SFC. I used to think WU was the key to processing the pending renames,moves and deletes - but I'm not so sure.

I just rebooted and ran SFC and still had the error, and SURT ran perfectly, no errors, so I'm not exactly sure what I should do now. But I'll get the detailed log of the SFC and post it here in case that helps.

Ok, good that SURT had no errors.

The next steps will be determined by what is in the SFC log. Just follow option three in the tutorial I previously referenced. The findstr command will grab the pertinent information form the CBS log.

If there are one or a few files that need repairing, you can grab them off a Win7 x64 disc or from the ISO. If there are hundreds, well the re-install is the best course. F5ing pointed you in that direction before I jumped in.

How do you get the file(s) you need? Read the tip box at the end of option three in the tutorial.

We're going to celebrate anyway, no matter how you get your system operable - right?

So after a quick skim of the SFC Details, there are quite a few programs that couldn't be repaired and some more that couldn't be verified, so I'm guessing the re-install is the way to go, so I'll get to work on that right now.

Well, there is more there than I would tackle. Have you run chkdsk? I don't think that will help recover the corrupted manifests, but if there's a physical disk problem, running chkdsk will find and fix it (check both boxes). If there are disk problems, they will haunt you even if you do a Repair or reinstall. your choice, but I think I'm out of ideas. Sorry we weren't successful.

I'm not sure if you tried a Repair Install - as I read your post, it seems as though you created a disc and ran SFC.

From there, the conversation went to full reinstall and that's about when I joined the conversation. So, if you created a disc as described in the tutorial above - you're ready to give it one last shot. Your data is safe with a repair install - some customization might be affected (sounds, visual effects, etc)

If that doesn't do it, then your only choice is a full reinstall. Make sure your data is backed up

Gentlemen, congratulations. After many a trial and tribulation, I have succeeded. First, I apologize for the late response caused by schoolwork, college is very difficult to manage without a working computer. Second, after reinstalling Windows 7, I have succeeded in purging all errors from my computer! Rather filling the errors. It was a Clean Install, so I just backed everything up beforehand and wiped my HDD clean.
