Laptop running hot after installing Windows 7

Hi all,

Have a HP Pavilion laptop that came with Windows 8.1 then updated to Windows 10, ran fine

I have a SSD and I decided to put Windows 7 on this laptop, it installed fine and everything but now it runs 20 degrees hotter than it did on Windows 10

Windows 10 idle was around 45 degrees while Windows 7 is around 60 degrees idle?!

It ran Windows 10 smoothly and Windows 7 runs smoothly on this laptop so what could the problem be?

Which version and was it a 32 bit or 64 bit win-7 install ?

Also how much ram does the machine have ?
Click Start and right click the Computer listing and click on Properties Ram will be listed.

I would see a 7 64 bit on 2 gb of ram running hot.

It has 6GB of RAM

CPU is AMD E2-1800M is thst helps also

64 bit Home Premium

Hi,
Another thing to try is switch to windows classic theme and see if that makes any difference
Right click your desktop and click on properties Personalize windows classic is in the high contrast themes area.

It seems that the machine isn't idle at all if running much hotter than before.
Check the process list under task manager (show for all users) and look what is taking CPU time. It's likely that some background service is doing something.

I think windows 8.1 and 10 manage the CPU differently as I have also downgraded to 7 and now my CPU does not throttle at all.

I Did you have any driver in 8 or 10 called Intel Collaborative Processor Performance Control (CPPC) Driver ?
