Windows 7 Home Premium x64
OEM
HP dv6190us, about 10 months old. Have not reinstalled OS.
The problem may be related to the switchable graphics, the laptop can switch between the AMD 6770M and the integrated chip.
Also, following the crash, the computer can't start up normally. To elaborate, the starting windows screen shows up, and the windows logo lights assemble and shine normally, but the screen doesn't go away. It's perpetually at that screen. So, I hit the power button to shut it down and reboot, the computer runs start up repair, doesn't detect anything, and from then on acts totally normally. One time, most recently when I did this, as I pressed the power button to shut it down from the starting windows screen, it briefly showed a BSOD that seemed shorter than the one I normally got, then shut down.
The BSOD usually occurs during normal activity, most recently it happened while the computer was open and running but I was away from keyboard. Other than crashes around once a month, the computer is fine.
