Laptop won't boot fully after battery drain

My parents were redoing my "office"/mancave, and they unplugged my laptop from the surge protector I was using, and plugged it into a different one, which apparently cut off the power going to my laptop. So my battery ran down to nothing, and my computer shut itself off. Now, I'm on a different protector, but my computer won't boot all the way up. It's bringing up the safe mode prompt, and when I try to boot normally, it gets past the "Starting Windows" screen, and my cursor appears on a black screen. I can't move the cursor, either with my touchpad or with my wireless USB mouse. The fan is running, so I let it sit, hoping it would come up to the log on screen. I had breakfast and came back to no change. I held the power button until it shut off, and rebooted, this time going into safe mode, with networking.
Please don't tell me I'll have to send my laptop back into Dell for servicing, I'm sure they're sick of seeing my laptop.

Hi Bubbayoshi,

Please try the following steps to see if they help:

- Unplug the power cable and the battery > Hold down the power button for 8-10 seconds continuously > Plug the 'power cable back-in' > Power on the system and repeatedly tap 'space bar' (without the battery plugged in) > Highlight 'Delete Restoration Data' if prompted and tap 'Enter' > If it boots to 'Windows', you may plug the battery back-in and the system should work fine

- If the issue persists, try running 'Hardware Diagnostics' to check 'Hardware Functionality': Alienware

Hope this helps. Do reply with the findings.

I'm not getting any delete restoration data. I have "Windows 7" and "Windows Memory Diagnostic".

Day 2 of Safe Mode with Networking. I miss my audio... Is there any way to check for driver errors that doesn't have any chance for making things worse?
If it helps, when I tried booting up into normal mode, the screen flickered a bit at the "Starting Windows" screen.

Hi Bubbayoshi,

If you did not get 'Delete Restoration Data', it indicates that the system was not stuck in the hibernation mode. You may still recheck if the system says 'Starting Windows' or 'Resuming Windows' when you try to get into 'Windows'. If it is 'resuming', you may try 'Deleting Restoration Data' again.

Also share if you ran the 'Hardware Diagnostics'. If not, please do that and share results. Running 'Diagnostics' is likely to isolate the possibility of a 'Hard Drive' failure. Does the system boot to 'Windows' in the 'normal mode'? Apart from a 'screen flicker', is there any other issue that you are currently facing?

You may refer to the tutorial http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-debugging/96879-blue-screen-death-bsod-posting-instructions.html to capture and share the details of 'system crashes' (If applicable). 'Driver related errors' are likely to surface in the 'crash reports'.

Do reply with the findings; would be glad to assist.

I do know that it's starting, not resuming. I have fully shut down my computer before trying to boot up. The screen after the "Windows Startup" is either black with nothing on it, or black with my mouse cursor in the middle, with no response from my touchpad or USB mouse. I ran the SF Diagnostic tool, ZIP attached.

No, Startup Repair only checks for problems that stop your computer from booting.

You must have done a factory restore that returns the computer to the day it left the factory.

When your laptop battery went dead your motherboard battery might of also went dead. This could of changed you Bios. Replace the motherboard battery and set Bios to default and set the correct time and date.

Running a full malwarebytes scan, it's already found 7 issues. I'll post the results when the scan is done, don't want to nuke any false positives. I'm pretty sure I've done that before...

SAS usually comes up with a heap of adware stuff like the ones in the MBAM scan (PUP's)

I got the new HD a few months back, almost a year. The tech said kaspersky would be enough, so I haven't really used MBAM lately. Anyway, tomorrow I'll start the tedious process of trying every driver at startup to see which one (if any) is acting up.
