It's amazing to think how Lego has evolved since it was just bricks and roof tiles oh not forgetting doors and windows, well that's what my oldest kids had in the Lego building world

i know i had loads of lego as a kid and i had my older brothers as well, i still remember the wheels and blocks with holes for the wheel to go in.its not just lego these days joan my eldest stepson has now outgrown his but he has a major collection of mega bloks dragons series and ships, castles and tons of other stuff ,my little one will have years of fun with it all .
he has tons of this stuff and its fairly pricey now. he must have about 10 different dragons

I have two massive bins of Legos in the garage. Legos were my primary thing as a kid.

I remember when I was 10, I went to Space Camp near the Kennedy Space Center. I had the lucky opportunity of being one of a very select group of kids who got into the Robotics group (30 kids out of at least 1000), and they used the Lego Mindstorm kits. You talk about fun. xD

As a side project, my computer science teacher is teaching me how to program small PIC chips. I might incorporate some servos and legos into that. xD

I know it pricey now but they've done wonders with it and all the things they've come out with to keep a child's imagination developing, it's marvellous, although at least now I don't have the worry of suddenly while vacuuming hearing those tiles or bricks suddenly clattering up the pipe

Lego was (and is) great but some of these type of toys were fantastically difficult. I remember Meccano being really tough and rather laborious and a house building kit called Bako (or something like) which used a board with long steel rods you stuck in and then threaded the various brick shapes down. Me and my dad built a bay window 3 bedroom bungalow, with porch and conservatory, brick by brick.
It was mind boggling and my dad loved it. I suspect a lot of dads get these toys for themselves, I was certainly far too young to appreciate them at the time.
It was fun watching him enjoying it though.

nice memories john,
joan its not the hoover that bothers me so much but the sudden pain and yelp when you stand on the bloody things without slippers or shoes. usually in the dark whilst everyone is asleep and you cant have a rant to ease the pain!
