Line in not recognized

im tryin to help a mate fix his laptop, he wants to rec onto it but when he plugs the jack into the line in it is only showing up as a mic, no option to choose line in.

audio driver is up to date (only one on audio driver available)

this is the laptop

Does this actually have a Line In. Many PC's only have one input jack (Mic) and not a separate Line In. Some with the one jack will switch between mic and line in either manually or automatically. The Compaq's I've seen only have the mic (mono) input.
