Loading to black screen

Hi I restored my windows on my laptop a few weeks ago an last night the laptop just loads to black screen so I switch it off then back on again and it sakes me to do a start up repair this happens all the time and I get up today and it's still doing it any ideas what it could be and how to fix it thanks

I saw this when it said it was posted "2 seconds ago", but I didn't know what to tell you, so I decided to wait and see what someone else says. Now it says "2 hours ago" and nobody has responded yet, so I'll jump in.

When you say that "you restored your windows on your laptop", I'm wondering what method you used. Did you buy a Windows CD and do a "clean install"? If so, I disagree with that method. Why do it that way when you have a hidden partition on your laptop that can restore your laptop to it's "out-of-the-box" condition and have everything working as it should? That's what I think you should do. After all, when you buy a laptop, the manufacturer has everything finely tuned so that it doesn't crash on you. It's what you do with it after you buy it that makes it crash.

How do you start your factory settings recovery process? That's a good question, because it varies with each manufacturer, so since you didn't say what make and model your laptop is, I can't tell you. On my son's ASUS, he has to press the hotkey, <F9> at startup, on my Acer Aspire 5739G, the hot keys are <Alt> + <F10>, and on the Toshiba Satellite that I just helped someone with, it's <F12> at startup and then he had to look for the option called, HDD Recovery. If you have any other brand, then you need to go to thier website, click on "Support" then go to "Downloads" but instead of looking to download drivers, you're going to download a manual--the full manual, not just the Quick Start. Then look for how to do the factory settings recovery at startup.

You are supposed to have made a set of recovery DVDs when you bought the laptop, so ir you have done so, then great! Use those instead. That is your best option. For example, on my computer, if I use the hot key method, I have to do some things that I don't like doing, like typing in the serial number for Windows and going through the activation process. When I use my recovery DVDs, everything is already done.

So try that and let me know what happens.
