Hi,

I ran RC7100 since it was released. When I upgraded from 7000 to 7100 I ran into what appeared to be an ACPI issue, but on closer inspection turned out to be resolved early on by disabling my Belkin WiFi card. A while later my LAN Nic blew out so I reenabled the belkin wireless and the problem was still gone.

Anyway, I recently upgraded once again to 7600, Home Premium. Soon after install I noticed random hangs. They seems to be during power-svae mode, but that was not the trigger. It just happened that after a while idle the machine would hang. Nothing special in the event logs.

I've battled with this for the last 3 weeks. These are the steps I've taken to try and resolve the issue.

1. Disable wireless card. No change.
2. Disable (crappy) USB nic. No change.
3. Update AI Boost drivers. Worse.
4. Delete and reinstall Microsoft ATK0110 ACPI utility. No change.
5. Update and Downgrade Nvidia Drivers (8800GT).
6. Remove 2G RAM so that it's only running with 4G. No change.

Last night I tried something mad. In device manager, I deleted "Microsoft ACPI Compliant System". I thought I destroyed the install. The USB mouse and keyboard stopped working. The video jumped back to install resolution and one screen. It appeared to be trying to reinstall something but I had no control so was forced to wait it out. About an hour later it completed something, and asked for a reboot. Trouble was I had no input control. So I hit the hard reset. It came back, and started to reinstall the systems drivers. It reinstalled everything on it's own, using the update site for some drivers.

So far no hangs. But I'm off to work now, so we will see in 9 hours.

So far so good. I'm back from the office and still no hang, thats about 12 hours without a lockup, which is a new record. I will give this another day, then I will re-enable monitor switchoff in powersave.
