Login Problems

hi,
Closed computer down normally yesterday.
Today went to login only to get message that username or password incorrect.
Know for a fact the password and username are 100% correct.
Then when click on reset password a message says this requires media or USB - put DVD in drive and click ok. Message comes back saying media or USB required.
What has gone wrong and how do I get into my computer?
Has been working fine for the last 2 weeks when setup as new but today can't access.
Have tried hard shutdown and reboot, checked cap lock etc etc double/triple checked password.
Any help please

Hello Colin, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You could try a system restore at boot using a restore point dated before you had this problem to hopefully fix it for you.

If your computer is a laptop-- make sure that the num lock ft. is disabled.

If it's a desktop, try plugging your keyboard into a different USB port (if it's USB keyboard) then retype your password.

Maybe your keyboard got stuck in a different keyboard input locale somehow? make sure that the input locale is correct (it will show top-left of your screen.)

As other people mentioned to, make sure that caps lock is off and type out the password carefully.

An Acer laptop. Indicator light shows if Caps is on/off.

Am going to try the Offline NT Password & Registry Editor, it has pretty good reviews.

Will let you know how it goes.
