I recently uninstalled BatteryCare (because of a warning from McAffee site advisor). Now I can't get the original battery icon of windows back. I know how to customize taskbar icons, but the problem is that the battery icon has totally disappeared from "Notification area icons". However, even after uninstalling I still see the option BatteryCare.exe. How do I remove this, and how do I get my original icon back??

(I use windows 7 home premium)

Re: BatteryCare.exe - You should be able to manually delete it. Or you could do an Advanced Search (of the entire computer, not just the Indexed locations) and delete it from the list that comes up, as well as deleting any other remnant files that were apparently left over from your uninstall.

Try rebooting afterwards to see if your battery icon reappears.

Re: the battery icon, have you tried to right-click on the Desktop, go to Personalize, and then select: Change Desktop Icons.

Or

Right-click on the Start button, select Properties, Notification Area, and under the System Icons check the 'Power' icon. (You can also do this from the Task Bar and Start Menu in Control Panel.)

If neither works, take a look at this tutorial:
