Lost my Windows Anytime Upgrade icon

I have a Windows Home Premium commercial version, which came with an Anytime Upgrade icon in the control panel. In my brilliance I moved the icon to invisible using Tweak 7. Now I cannot find it because it says it is disabled, and I must use it to upgrade to Ultimate, which I just purchased. I suspect it is somewhere in the computer, and has had a registry entry which has disabled it from being used, and Ultimate will not install except by use of WAU. Can anyone suggest how I can retrieve the use of it?

Dear TEWS,
That might be a solution IF: This was a brand new problem, but it isn't.
The WAU icon was disabled a long time ago, and RESTORE would only bring me back to a short time ago since the Restore POINTS ARE FREQUENT.
I am hoping to find a registry change solution which will bring back the program.
Might it be possible to go back to the original DVD containing my Win 7 Home Premium and plucking the WAU from it without having to lose all my applications?

What happens when you enter Windows Anytime Update in the search bar ...

I suspect you'll find the Anytime Upgrade option by searching the start menu:

Click the Start button

. In the search box, type anytime upgrade, and then, in the list of results, click Windows Anytime Upgrade. Follow the instructions on each page.

Cassie, when I type in Anytime Upgrade I get Windows Anytime Upgrade, and it says: "Windows Anytime Upgrade has been disabled. Contact your system Administrator for more information."
I AM THE SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR!

I originally purchased three copies of Windows 7 Home Premium from Microsoft. Then I purchased three copies of Windows 7 Ultimate from Microsoft. On two computers I installed Ultimate successfully over the Home Premium. On this third computer I do not seem to be able to get by this problem, and I hope to find the registry entry which will ENABLE WAU. Of course I have the option of doing a clean install, which I am sure will work, but I do not wish to lose all the programs I have installed in the HOME PREMIUM if i don't have to.

I have checked the FAQ that you suggested, but none of the items cover this topic.

I haven't been able to find any registry references to disable/enable WAU at all.. at this point I would recommend trying a repair install ... if this doesn't resolve your problem, then backup your data and do a clean install, then proceed with WAU... Sorry I couldn't be of more help...

Try this:

1) Type gpedit.msc in the Start menu’s search box and then press Enter.

2) Navigate to User Configuration, Administrative Templates, Windows Components, and then select Windows Anytime Upgrade in the left column of the Group Policy editor.

3) Double-click Prevent Windows Anytime Upgrade from running in the Settings section of the Group Policy editor.

4) Select Disabled and then click OK to save the changes.

Anytime Upgrade

To ALL my friendly SevenForums Team helpers: Because none of the remedies relieved my problem, I chickened out. I opted to do a clean install of the Ultimate, and have started installing the other programs which fell out in the process. The installation went smoothly, and the other programs are installing smoothly.
This clean install has already helped by, for example, giving me access to gpedit.msc, which I could not get with my previous installation of Home Premium.
Thank you all for making good suggestions. I have learned from this experience.
