Macrium v5 Users Opinions on Macrium v6

@ DavidE .... is the screenshot you put in post 12 the actual GUI of MR v6 in W7 ??... or was that a screenshot from W8 or W10...?? B/c that UI alone is enough to keep me on v5. :) I don't like the minimalistic look of post-W7 interfaces.... I likes me my aero and eye candy (since to me the features are not worth switching for anyway... except maybe in time the faster restore).

That looks like a screen print from Win 7, because of the rounded corners on the window.

Sorry David, thought that was taken from your own machine. :)

I have Macrium 5.2 free using winpe and it has aes encryption when you use the rescue media. Is this the same in v6 free? If not, can you still restore an encrypted 5.2 image you have already created? I am new to this program. I used acronis and clonezilla in the past.

Kmbrite,

It might be better to have a confirmation by someone who actually uses v6, but from what I know of Macrium Reflect, no features have been taken away between v5 and v6, especially one as important as encryption.

So, I'm pretty sure that AES encryption, which you can use optionally in v5, is available identically in v6 free.

As the v6 manual states, yes, you can restore a v5 image with v6.

However, if you lost your password, you won't be able to restore, or even browse any image, whatever the version.

AES encryption is not linked to use with rescue media. It's available whether you launch Macrium Reflect through rescue media, through the option available at boot or through the full-fledged installation of the program.

According to the feature comparison chart AES encryption is not in the free V6. I'm surprised you had it in v5. Macrium Reflect Free
