Solved Making a duplicate ISO disk

I was lucky enough to save the Windows ISO's from the Heidoc.com site before they shut it down and I have made an ISO boot disk from those downloads for 7 Pro Home 64bit and Home 32bit. Now I do not have easy access to my home machine to make more so have tried to copy those disks by saving them to a folder on my desktop and then using ImgBurn to make a further copies of the disks from those folders.

As I said I have tried ImgBurn but as always I find it somehow so convoluted to use.

Anyone got any easy suggestions please to just make copies of the ISO disks??

Any help would be really appreciated

Download and install your bit version of ISO Recorder v3.1 ISO Recorder v3

Load your Disk into the optical drive. Right click on it and you can either make an ISO of the disk or copy from disk to disk.

Isorecorder should be ok.

Any of the isohandlers free versions will do it.

Poweriso,or ultraiso for example.The limitation of the free versions is only with respect to editing iso files. They burn/copy/mount easily.

ImgBurn is about as straightforward as you can get.

Yep tried that one Strollin but it just kept fouling up and I eventually got them done with the software Jumanji linked me although the right click in the file has a slightly different window.

I have two optical disk writers in my system. May be that is the reason why the Copy Disk to Disk appears in my case. If you do not have two writers then you have to write the ISO with it (ISO Recorder) and then write the ISO to disk using the Windows native image burner.



Even if Copy Disk to Disk is available, I always prefer to write the ISO with ISO Recorder and keep it so that if need be I can write it to a CD/DVD or create a bootable pen drive anytime.

Though I have many programs like ImgBurn, Ultra ISO , ISOBuster(which can also create ISO), and umpteen free and paid burning programs, I always use ISO Recorder and Windows native Image burner. That is as simple as one can get for that simple job..I had never been let down.

Note: If Windows native image burner has been hijacked by some other burner you can reset it to be the default Burner for ISO.

Hmm now since I have done all three ISO's - the only choice I have left is the right click copy image to disk and it goes to that ISO Recorder but no matter it is reasonably fast and does the job with a fair bit of less fiddling than ImgBurn.

PS The Windows feature isn't seen in the panel that opens and there is nothing in Programs and features but no matter as long as the job gets done.

Glad it worked for you but I sure would like to know what fiddling you needed to do with ImgBurn?

I copied 3 ISOs to discs today using ImgBurn. I opened the folder where the ISO was, opened ImgBurn, clicked Write Image to Disc, then drug the file I wanted to burn over and dropped it on the open ImgBurn window and clicked Burn. Easy-peasy, with absolutely no fiddling.

I don't know Stollin mate I have always found it fiddly to use - it is probably just me or the type of files I was using as I got it to do one disk but subsequent ones just went into the little screens I had no idea of what to do with them. In hindsight I should have taken snips to show you.

When you say you dragged the file to ImgBurn I used the little yellow tab to browse for the file maybe that is where I am going wrong??

The ISO Burner seems to work ok anyway

strollin, he needed to create an ISO from a Disc. He no longer had the ISO to burn.
So you should have chosen the 2nd option in your screenshot: Create image file (aka ISO) from disc.

ICIT2LOL: you put the DVD in the drive, select the 2nd option and you will get your ISO.

Then you write the ISO to as many other DVDs as you wish. (Me, I prefer USB sticks).

Naw, using the file browser to locate the file you want to burn to disc works equally well. I used drag and drop since I already had the folder with the ISOs open so it was easier to drag the ISO I wanted over rather than navigate to the folder again.

I've just never heard anyone say they needed to fiddle around with ImgBurn to get it to work before. I've used many different disc burning apps and always felt ImgBurn was the easiest to use I've ever come across.

The important thing is that you found something that works for you.

Yep well there seemed to be a bit of confusion at first Plod and this wouldn't have happened if my Ivy Bridge board had not decided to die very slowly and I couldn't copy those ISO's to a stick for some reason so I made individual disks from the originals on that machine as they are too valuable to lose seeing the cost of re[lacing 7 with an OEM now
