Does anyone know how one can make a bootable DVD? I have tried to search in the forum, but couldn't really find anything (on my own).

Kindly direct me. Thanks.

Windows 7 has a built in program for ISO's. It's called Windows Disk Image Burner. Just right click on the ISO and choose open with > Windows Disk Image Burner

Thanks for that. It's in process. Hm, so when it's done, will I be able to install Windows from my this ISO file? If so, can I install windows on partition C (the one with current system on)?

Yes you will be able to install it. And you should be able to install it on the same partition, but if you have a deeper issue than making an ISO maybe you should consider posting about it in the appropriate forum.

Another thing that I should have added is that you should check the verify box before burning. Some have found this helpful and if you have a problem with the DVD i would do it over, making sure you check the box.

Here is another resource for booting from a thumbdrive. If you have one the installation will be much quicker

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/2432-usb-windows-7-installation-key-drive-create.html?ltr=U

Thanks for the link.

But I just tried something else. Copied and pasted the ISO file on my USB stick. Used Open With option and tried to open with WinRAR; and it took about 4 mins for the files to extract, and now I'm on to that window asking if I want to Install the Windows.

I'm not so sure, but apparently it'll work. Hmm?

I don't know if that will work. I would stick to the tutorial, it is proven to work

I am pretty sure you will get stuck in the middle of the installation - happened to me once with the same method..

^ Okay. Thanks. I actually tried and got to the step where it asks if I wanted to do Upgrade or Customized installation.

Anyways can I please ask one more thing. I want to make a fresh start and my plan was to
- Move data from another partition (E) to C (system one),
- install Windows 7 on the E
- Move my data I need from C to partition E
- and since traditionally the letter C is used I was going to use Paragon Partition Manager to Change the letter assigned to E (and give it name 'C')

Are there any better alternatives there? (The plan above was to be the only option when I didn't know how much help I could get from this forum. :))

If you ever need to reboot you should consider creating a system repair disc: Create a system repair disc.

Just did that. Thanks. And creating a System Image right now.

I mainly want to know if I can somehow start everything from scracth (fresh system, faster speed, hopefully). I just posted my Q above. :)

System imaging is your best bet. That allows you to keep a copy of the system in any stage you like - brand new, with programs 1-x installed, with all programs installed and all settings made, etc.
If you copy the .iso, you get only the "factory image" and have to start at square1 every time you apply it.

There is no knows issues installing from a USB drive. I have done it myself several times with no issues.

Your question depends on the data you want to save. You can always install on top of your current installation, and your data will be backed up to Windows.old
