All function keys (1st row on keyboard), several number keys (6, 8, 9 on the 2nd row) and the left Shift key do not response;
I checked keyboard driver is updated, connection good;
I tried troubleshoot hardware and devices but problem not fixed, seems nothing detected
I tried System Restore, but the blue screen saying files and settings being restored stayed for an hour without an end, so I had to stop it

How can I fix this keyboard problem? It's a notebook using Windows 7.:cry:

Welcome chinwoman to the windows 7 forums.

Based on your trouble shooting so far, it looks like your notebook keyboard is toast.

there could be a single wire from your keyboard that has a loose connection or broken off.
My recommendation is to get it replaced. If your technically inclined, most laptops keyboards can be removed and the flat ribbon connection can be cleaned. I would try that if your comfortable with removing your keyboard, other than that, it looks like your going to have to take it to a repair shop which most likely will do the same thing, or replace it.

Thanks. How about if I uninstall and the reinstall the keyboard driver (Control Panel> Keyboard > hardware > Properties > Change Settings > Driver > Unstall ). Will that work? I do not dare to try because I am afriad I can't reinstall it. Will that happen?

Fujitsui advised that I may try reboot the computer in Safe mode. Will that work?

I would bet that you have a defective keyboard or keyboard connections. If it won't work normally then most likely safe mode won't help it. You can try to uninstall the driver but my gut tells me that you need technical help on your keyboard and/or replacement.

Thanks. I have launced an on-screen keyboard and it works well. So the problem should not be with the keyboard driver.
