Hi everyone. Just thinking as I sit here now.

So how does a person decide if things are neccessary at start up when you don't know what they are?

I have 67 processs running in task manager. Also trying to clean out the "extra" software in this laptop.
Not sure what Fujitsu requires to run on this laptop..anyone with a lifebook E780?

Alot of reading to get through to fiqure out all the processes.

You'll get best performance by running a Clean Boot.

In msconfig>Startup uncheck everything except your AV. Nothing else is needed to startup with windows. If you have any doubts about an entry, google it to find out what it's for. You don't need any of the factory bloatware like a Wireless Manager as WIn7 has better versions built into it.

Next in msconfig>Services tick the box to "Hide all MS services" then again uncheck everything except your AV. Now reboot several times to see that nothing writes itself back in, or else turn it off in its Program Prefs or Uninstall it.

Thanks guys.
Going to work on this today.
It has been great coming here to this forum.
Great support, advice, and wonderful tuturials.

Hi, there's a handy free program called "whatsinstartup" that you can install and it lists what will start during boot up - ok, you can get the same info using msconfig but this program is good for giving you a description of what each program does. Don't be conned by asking for payment - it is free. If you are having problems with a long startup, turning a lot of them off can speed things up considerably. Remember, you are not uninstalling or disabling a program by doing this only stopping it starting during boot up - you can start the program later if needed.

Hope this helps.
