By Windows Update cleanup are you talking about the standard Windows Disk Cleanup. I use Disk cleanup maybe once every few weeks.

Almost but not quite. You need Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems KB2852386 (or 32 bit if 32 bit system) installed to gain WU Cleanup functionality in Disk Cleanup (cleanmgr.exe)

CCleaner recently included some sort of resident monitoring function.

You can disable it in the Monitoring tab (Options > Monitoring).

As I said, I disabled everything except disk wiping and I still had to close a CCleaner process in Task Manager. It also inserted itself in the start menu and I had to remove that. It's like a bloody virus!

We run CCleaner multiple times a day to clean up after each IE11 session my wife does. CCleaner is at the current version and we have not had any issues with the March Patch Tuesday updates. This is the free 64 bit version with System Monitoring and Active Monitoring checked on.

Noted, the information I posted was for the sake of the general forum population who might stumble across this thread and not know it.

Let me ask you a question, if I may, that may sound strange or unrelated but I have my reasons to ask: Do you operate your OS with UAC on or off and at what level? I have reason to suspect that this may come into play somehow. Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately it goes againt my "theory" (more of a hunch, really) that installing KB's 3021952 & 3033929 with UAC disabled causes the cleanmgr.exe deepclean problem of removing KB3023607 (5.2mb) which is the "child" update that comes bundled with 3021952 & 3033929 as I described here earlier on this topic thread.

Uninstalling KB's 3021952, 3033929 & 3023607 (which I had installed with UAC disabled) and reinstalling 3021952 & 3033929 with UAC enabled finally resolved my problem as I described on my topic at Micro$oft Answers Forum here:

KB3023607 repeatedly removed by deepclean after KB3032359/KB3021952 (5.2mb ea) repeatedly offered/installed...

I may have (I hope) stumbled on a solution for the Kb-3023607-3021952-3032359 snafu and you're not gonna believe the solution (at least in my case) is as simple as 3 little letters... UAC
Confirmed in VMWare (twice) and "Live" system (once). When KB's 3021952, 3032359, 3023607 & their "child" components are installed with UAC disabled, cleamgr.exe (DeepClean) removed KB3023607:

Can anyone else confirm/refute/reproduce/test etc this scenario? Be back this afternoon (it's 11:30 AM here now)

Thanks, guys. @mjf: Unfortunately this also goes against my "hunch". Now I have to go back and find out why it (installing with UAC enabled) fixed the problem for me, but not for mjf & Ranger4. @LF is not affected.

More testing *sigh* Good thing I have too much time on my hands lol.

Hello everyone. After a few days I'm thinking about applying the patches. I know, a little late. But because soon I'll be doing my work I do not want to have disadvantages with pc. So I wonder if letting automatic update and install the patches I will not have a problem.(KB3035131, KB3033929)

I use auto updates & install all updates as they become available & those 2 updates (KB3035131, KB3033929) installed without any problems.

Is your normal setting "Auto Update" (post #75) ?
If so and you want to wait a week, why use the auto update setting ?

I have mine to to notify me updates are available, then i can choose what and when to update.
Then I know they are there, ready and waiting, but I can use my PC without worrying about what auto update might do ... until i want them installed.

Ah, sorry i misunderstood
I let Windows install the updates together and hopefully it's smart enough to install them in the right order ...
If not or anything fails (very rare), i re-run Windows Update.
