Today, as part of Update Tuesday, we released 14 security bulletins to address vulnerabilities in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Exchange, and Internet Explorer.

We encourage customers to apply all of these updates. For more information about this month’s security updates, including the detailed view of the Exploitability Index (XI) broken down by each Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE), visit the Microsoft Bulletin Summary webpage. If you are not familiar with how we calculate the XI, a full description can be found here.

We released one new Security Advisory:

• Availability of SHA-2 code signing support for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 (3033929)

Two Security Advisories were revised:

• Update for Vulnerabilities in Adobe Flash Player in Internet Explorer (2755801)
• Vulnerability in Schannel Could Allow Security Feature Bypass (3046015)

The last two months I've experienced one kind of trouble or another. This month all went well on my box, hope that is the norm this month.

OH NO THEY HAVE NOT.
I have 2 machines here that do absolutely nothing when I select my icon on the desktop. One was loaded and running a desktop but I could not click any program to run. Actually I have 3 machines like it. The Windows 8 updates did seem to be OK but I have 3 broken Windows 7 Ultimates. I would hold off on the installs for the time being.

OK fixed it, there was an issue with "Mouse without borders" on my main machine when running Windows 8.1 the machine had lost control of the Windows 7 machines. I ran through the set up on Windows 8.1 and the other 3 computers were seen and then I could control them from the master machine.

Something I noticed while d/l ing the MSRT

The Malicious software removal tool currently available for download is the February 2015 version. The March 2015 version will be available in the next couple of weeks.

What's up with that?

Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool

For the bulletin release that occurs on the second Tuesday of each month, Microsoft has released an updated version of the Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool on Windows Update, Microsoft Update, Windows Server Update Services, and the Download Center. No updated version of the Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool is available for out-of-band security bulletin releases.

The March 2015 MSRT release will not be available to Windows 2003 x64-bit operating systems via Windows Update. Regular downloads will continue with the April 2015 update. Windows 2003 x64-bit customers can run any other Microsoft security software to help ensure they are protected.

I installed 13 updates that had been downloaded for this system. All installed with no issues and the system seems to be running just fine. I did a full system backup with system image to an external USB HDD on 03/06/15. I usually run a backup just prior to Patch Tuesday as a precaution. I use a Father/Son set of external HDDs for full back ups as well as a separate HDD for a System Image backup also.

My Windows 7 went crazy, not by updates but caused by Panda Antivirus:
Panda Security Rolls Out Automatic Fix for Botched Signature Update - Softpedia

Panda Antivirus thought, that everything on computer is cause for alarm (virus), deleted important Windows files and I was not able to reboot anymore as OS wasn't able to restart :/

So, looks like MS was finally able to deliver updates without problems.

I'm still glad, that Panda Antivirus use that "Cloud" technology, so developers get info in seconds if something bad happens.

I had 11; 10 security, 1 IE10. I installed all in one shot since they weren't a couple for this, a couple for that.... So far, so good....

For Borg:
I received the March msrt on the 7th so I'm not sure what's up.

FYI:
The monthly msrt only runs a quick scan by default when installed, if you want to run a full or custom scan see: Malicious Software Removal Tool

Be forewarned though, a full scan will last as long or longer than a CHKDSK. Mine took 4.5hours, but tales are about that one fellow's took a half hour short of a day.

thats odd; I dont recall getting the updates for windows yesterday. Were they supposed to be for 10 or 7?
